혈청 tonicity는 주로 나트륨 농도에 의해 결정되기 때문에 저나트륨혈증의 대부분의 환자들은 hypotonic hyponatremia입니다.

To calculate plasma osmolality use the following equation (typical in the US):

= 2[Na+] + [Glucose]/18 + [ BUN ]/2.8 where [Glucose] and [BUN] are measured in mg/dL.

 

Hypotonic hyponatremia, hypertonic hyponatremia를 그냥 외우곤 했는데 가만히 생각해 보면 다음과 같은 원리가 있으므로 따로 외울 필요 없이 그냥 이해가 됩니다. Plasma osmolality를 계산하는 식은 2[Na+] + [Glucose]/18 + [ BUN ]/2.8입니다. 혈청 tonicity는 주로 나트륨 농도와 동반 음이온에 의해 결정되기 때문에 저나트륨혈증의 대부분의 환자들은 hypotonic hyponatremia입니다.
